RIP 2024
for many personal reasons, this year was uniquely difficult and painful, and remains so. it will take a long time to look back on this time without an extreme reaction of anger and stress. many of those factors are still very much present as well, so it also feels a bit hollow to ring in the new year as a time of change.
that said, I would like to try and focus on the better parts of the year:
- spending a weekend holed up in a house with my best friends, playing board games for three days straight. I can say without a shred of exaggeration that the feelings this weekend gave me kept me aloft for months after
- seeing friends at GDC. I very likely will not be going to GDC in 2025, and seems like many of the people I saw this year aren't either. I'm glad to have seen them when I could
- seeing many friends I hadn't been able to see for years
- participating in a year-long Wolves Upon The Coast campaign. more to come from me on this I think, and I wish I had the time and energy to play more, but this was a blast. Wolves is not in a genre mode I typically gravitate towards, but the DMs and fellow players made it worthwhile many times over
- while the end of Cohost is not cause for celebration, I do still think of Cohost very fondly and I'm glad to have been a part of it. also it's gotten me into blogging which I somehow do enjoy
- finally finishing that racing microgame
- getting back into miniature painting. I had to stop years ago due to hand pains, which I have since mostly resolved or am able to work around
- announced Amberspire. the anxiety of an announce was really getting to me this year! and it thankfully went well
